We make
In Corporación MATER we have developed four areas of action with the aim of preventing and treating pediatric nephro-urological diseases and supporting the families of children with these pathologies.
- Medical Center
- Surgical Area
- Shelter House
- Education
Medical Center
Focused on prevention and treatment, we perform examinations with the highest quality standards for pediatric patients from all over the country, in areas such as imaging, nuclear medicine, urodynamic studies, as well as kinesiology, psychotherapy and nutrition.
The MATER Shelter
In 2004, the Corporation created the Casa de Acogida project to receive children with health problems and their companions who do not have lodging in Santiago, where the medical specialists and most of the examinations and treatments are concentrated. Because of this, many families must travel from other cities to access adequate care. For eighteen years, the Corporation leased housing for this purpose, although it did not meet certain infrastructure requirements necessary to provide optimal service. Thanks to donations and the team's efforts, it was able to obtain financing to build a home of its own, which meets better quality standards, providing users with more space, privacy, and comfort.
How can I access?
To access a place for the first time in this House, they must be referred by a health professional from the referring hospital or from the one that will perform the treatment in Santiago.
Generally, it is the Social Worker, Nurse or the treating Physician.
Surgical operations
Surgical Operations
In 2014, in response to the pediatric surgical needs of the nephro-urological area of the public service, we began to carry out surgical operations in regions, to help hospitals to decongest the waiting lists for this type of pathology.
These are performed at no cost to the service and with the help of volunteer specialists who travel for a weekend to attend patients selected by the local medical team.

National Program "Growing Without Waiting
In order to reduce the long waiting lists for children's surgery, the surgical program "Growing up without waiting" was created in 2024, aimed at three non-GES pathologies that represent 70% of these: phimosis, abdominal hernias and cryptorchidism. It is expected that, by the end of 2026, more than 2,000 children throughout Chile will benefit from this program.
This program is carried out in alliance with the Ministry of Health, the Chilean Society of Pediatric Surgery and the Chilean Society of Anesthesiology, who collaborate with the recruitment of volunteer doctors who dedicate a weekend to help those Health Services that need it most. In addition, we have the support of SKY Airlines, which helps us with air transfers.

Education
In 2024 we launched our educational initiative MATER, to prevent and raise awareness of nephrourological diseases. We seek to make risk factors visible, empower patients and families in the care of their health, and help them make informed decisions for a better quality of life.
On our platform you will find information on how the body works, the development of these diseases, diagnoses, tests, and expert advice on how to prevent and better manage these conditions.
Results that make a difference
- Lives transformed: We have helped thousands of children overcome illnesses.
- Renewed hope: Our programs offer patients and their families the opportunity to look forward to a better quality of life.
- Strengthened community: We work closely with hospitals, health services and medical societies to create a comprehensive support network.
- Sustainable impact: Our long-term approach ensures that we can continue to provide high-quality medical care to children in need.
Community Family
This project of the Corporation seeks to bring together families of children and adolescents with renal and / or neurological pathologies, creating spaces to share experiences, address common issues and solve shared problems. Through monthly virtual meetings and face-to-face sessions, we encourage mutual support and reflection on daily challenges. The invitation is open to all interested families.
Everyone is welcome to be part of this community!
