The partnership will enable the development of various initiatives in urological and nephrological health, with a special focus on children.
MATER Corporation and the Spanish Kidney Foundation signed a collaboration agreement that paves the way for joint efforts between the two institutions in the areas of outreach, awareness-raising, and education, as well as other projects related to urological and nephrological health among the general population, particularly children.
The agreement was signed in Madrid by José Santiago Arellano, director of Corporación MATER, along with María Dolores Arenas, general director, and Fabiola Dapena, medical and psychosocial care director of the Spanish Kidney Foundation.
The Spanish organization, with more than four decades of experience, is a leader in comprehensive care for people with kidney disease. It operates 19 dialysis centers in Spain, promotes nephrology research through the Reina Sofía Institute (IRSIN), and presents the Íñigo Álvarez de Toledo Awards, the country’s highest honor for kidney research. It has also developed the digital platform “Salud Renal Siempre,” a free resource organized into four key sections: prevention, kidney disease, dialysis, and transplantation. The platform, which is visited by more than 200,000 people each semester, features videos, podcasts, and infographics created by more than 60 specialists and patients.
The Spanish Kidney Foundation is also a pioneer in kidney health prevention and education programs, including initiatives aimed at children, such as the picture book *Renata, My Nephrologist*.
During the meeting, the leaders of the Spanish Kidney Foundation expressed their keen interest in the work carried out by Corporación MATER in Chile and their willingness to actively collaborate in fulfilling its mission: to ensure that children awaiting urological or nephrological surgery have timely access to it and receive the highest quality of care.
This agreement represents a significant step forward in MATER’s international outreach and will enable the sharing of experiences, knowledge, and best practices between two institutions that, on both sides of the Atlantic, are working toward the same goal: the well-being of people and children with kidney and urological diseases.
